Mental Health & Social Work Services – The Broad Center

You Deserve to Feel Heard & Supported

At The Broad Center, we recognize that mental health is a cornerstone of overall well-being. Our dedicated team, including an on-site therapist, provides comprehensive support tailored to individuals and families navigating challenges such as poverty, trauma, addiction, and mental health concerns.

Why Mental Health Support Is More Important Than Ever

In New York City, approximately 21.1% of adults experience a mental illness, with 5.1% facing serious mental illness (Office of the New York State Comptroller, 2024). Young adults, particularly those aged 18–25, are notably affected, with 30% experiencing mental health issues in recent years (Office of the New York State Comptroller, 2024).

The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated these challenges, leading to increased feelings of isolation, grief, and economic instability. A 2023 survey indicated that 8% of adult New Yorkers reported serious psychological distress, with higher rates among Black (8%), Latino (10%), and Middle Eastern or North African (12%) communities (NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, 2024).
